What Is Huawei SuperCharge?

Huawei SuperCharge is Huawei's branded high-speed charging system. It uses communication between the phone, charger and cable to select a supported voltage and current profile. Huawei support documentation refers to the proprietary charging link as the Huawei SCP protocol.

The charger does not force its complete wattage into the phone. The phone's charging controller requests a compatible profile and adjusts power during the session according to battery percentage, temperature, active usage and safety limits.

Important: Huawei states that actual charging power changes with the scenario. The table shows maximum supported rates, not a promise that the phone will remain at that wattage from empty to full.

What the Main Huawei SuperCharge Tiers Mean

22.5W to 40W SuperCharge

These profiles appear across older Huawei phones, tablets and some lower-power devices. They are still SuperCharge modes when the correct two-bolt icon appears, but they should not be compared directly with the latest 66W or 100W phones.

66W SuperCharge

66W uses an 11V/6A maximum profile on recent supported phones. The Huawei Pura 70, Mate X6 and Mate XT Ultimate Design are examples. Their official specification pages also list compatibility with lower Huawei profiles such as 10V/4A, 10V/2.25A, 4.5V/5A, 5V/4.5A and ordinary 9V/2A fast charging.

88W SuperCharge

The nova 13 and nova 13 Pro use the marketing name 100W Huawei SuperCharge Turbo. Huawei lists the nova 13 Pro as reaching 50% in nine minutes under its controlled test conditions. That result should not be treated as universal because battery level, temperature and usage change real-world charging time.

Wattage alone is not a charging-time guarantee. Battery capacity, charging curve, starting percentage, temperature and screen activity can make two 100W phones charge at different speeds.

Which Huawei Charger and Cable Do You Need?

For maximum SuperCharge, use the Huawei charger and cable supplied or officially recommended for the exact phone. Huawei's support guidance says the cable's rated current must be at least as high as the current required by the device.

Is Huawei SuperCharge the Same as USB-PD or PPS?

No. Huawei SuperCharge relies on Huawei charging profiles, while USB Power Delivery and PPS are industry-standard USB-C technologies.

A modern Huawei charger may support several protocols, and a Huawei phone may accept more than one type of charging input. However, the presence of a USB-C port or a large wattage number does not prove that a third-party charger can activate Huawei's maximum SCP SuperCharge profile.

How 50W and 80W Wireless SuperCharge Work

Selected Huawei flagships support Wireless SuperCharge, but the phone alone is not enough. The charging stand or car charger, power adapter and cable must all support the required power.

Huawei's official requirements include:

  • Up to 50W wireless: A compatible Huawei 50W or 80W wireless stand or car charger, normally powered by a dedicated Huawei 66W, 88W or 100W adapter.
  • Up to 80W wireless: A Huawei SuperCharge Wireless Charger Stand or Wireless Car Charger rated to 80W, used with the dedicated Huawei 100W power adapter.

Wireless charging also depends on correct alignment and cooling. Thick cases, metal objects, magnetic accessories, high temperature and poor positioning can reduce speed or stop charging.

What Is Huawei Smart Charge?

Smart Charge learns from charging habits and reduces the time the battery remains fully charged. For example, during regular overnight charging it may pause at a certain level, then resume later so the phone is ready near the time you normally unplug it.
